My (Fake) Future's So Bright...

Yesterday my boyfriend and my little brother and I were checking out some music stores in the neighborhood. My boyfriend was looking for an electric guitar, my brother was looking for a pair of Pro-Mark drumsticks, and I was looking for the dramatic fantasies music stores so easily conjure within me ("I think I'm going to move to Nashville and start a folk rock band called Winona and the Corn Huskers! Serious! I just need to buy a van and learn to play an instrument.")

I came dangerously close to impulse-buying a banjo and a $900 drum kit before spotting these plaid sunglasses near the counter:

I tried them on, shrieked with delight, and slammed my debit card on the counter. "I'll take 'em," I said, "as long as they cost less than $900."

They were 12 bucks.

I love them so much I've been wearing them inside the house. And oh man are they gonna look great on stage in Nashville.

The sunglasses are a great find. May I suggest, if you find yourself impulse-buying at a music store again, go for guitar picks. They are cheap, colorful, and pretty. Also, keeping some in your purse or scattered about the house is the best way to give off the "yeah, I play music, it's no big deal or anything, but I can't be bothered to keep my picks in a particular place because music is a fickle muse and I might need to start composing at any moment" vibe. You don't even NEED a guitar around.

I've been called a corn husker! It's one of my wonderful husband's nicknames for me.
Therefore I think it only logical that I be in your band.
I'll have a word with my boss, book a flight and I can be in Nashville by Friday.

Your brother just poked a broomstick at my head and scared the hell out of me btw.

Reminded me to check up on DL so thank him! haha

Wendy--
Yeah they're pretty much a tacky plastic version of Burberry plaid.

The Bird--
Ooooh I love that idea!

Lovers, Saints, and Sailors--
You've got yourself a deal. First band practice will be tomorrow in my garage. Please bring all the instruments and musical talent!

my one and only new years resolution this year was to learn how to play the banjo! but i didn't think it would actually happen, i like to make ridiculous and barely achievable new years resolutions. and then my husband surprised me with a banjo as my valentines day gift!!! we should totes (irony creep) start a band together and hey now you don't even need a banjo, just the drumkit! i just saved you a couple hundred dollars. you're welcome.
