Top 5 Neon Pink Sneakers for the "Neon Pink Sneakers Girl"

My sophomore year of college I was really into Converse sneakers. I wanted to be known as "Converse Girl" so I wore my pink high tops and purple tie-dye low tops every day and said things like, "Look everybody! I'm wearing my Converse again. Might as well call me Converse Girl!" really loud and often. I was well on my way to mediocre fame and maybe a sponsorship when my foot started to hurt. I went to the doctor, he did an x-ray, and said, "Your foot is broken."

"Umm, how did I break my foot without noticing?"

He frowned at my beloved Converse sitting at the corner. "Do you ever wear different shoes?"

"No," I said. "I'm kind of known as the Converse Girl."

He explained that the lack of support from my beat-up sneakers combined with constant walking and my habit of excitable jumping had given me a stress fracture.

I stormed out of his office with a walking cast, later switched to even less supportive ballet flats to spite him, and I haven't really worn sneakers since.

Cut to the other day at Starbucks: I saw a girl waiting in line wearing the most amazing neon pink Keds. I gasped and said to my friend, "Look at the neon pink Keds girl!" and I felt a pang of jealousy and nostalgia in my heart. My obsession had returned.

Here are a few of my favorite options a frantic search for "neon pink sneakers" turned up:

I am more-than-mildly obsessed with these amazing 4 1/2" cone heel pumps from Seychelles- did I buy them in every color? of course I did!- and I am going to be desperately sad when they are inevitably discontinued and my cobbler can no longer resuscitate them.

Also, I might own seven pairs of Steve Madden patent flats. Maybe. And maybe four of those pairs are black patent, stacked up in my closet so replacements can be rotated in as they fall apart.

It's a sickness.

I have to many shoe obsessions to mention, but I did see a girl in the airport a few years ago wearing grass green Topsiders and fell in love (with the shoes - http://shoedaydreams.blogspot.com/2007/07/honey-were-killing-kidsfashion-sense.html). I had to have some too.

I fully endorse your shoe obsession - love the star Converse by the way.

In college I thought it would be funny to be the girl who always wore prom dresses to class, but that idea never really took off since I had no closet space and it is hard to bike in a formal dress.

Haha, those shoes are adorable!
And boots. I love, love, love boots. Short boots, tall boots, booties, you name it. I just think they're so darn classy.

Mmmm, pink with stars ...

I did something similar in middle school, trying to get people to give me a nickname. It was similarly ineffective. Perhaps that's why we're kindred spirits?

I almost never wear sneakers or sensible shoes of any kind. It's either ballet flats or heels for me, usually. But the other day I got these amazing bright red sneakers from Target for 7 bucks: http://swallowlightbulbs.blogspot.com/2010/07/what-i-bought.html
I kinda feel like a kid wearing them, but who's to say that's a bad thing? Anyway, I just had to share my two cents for once because I'm just so excited about these shoes.

I love those Roxy's! So cute.

I don't have a specific shoe obsession, but I HATE shoes with buckles or laces. I need to be able to get to barefoot in three seconds or less.

It's true. Converse offer no support. But if you just add some Dr. Scholl's inserts you can go back to being Converse Girl.

i remember having two pairs of hightop converse when i was little (think mid 80s) an aqua pair and i think the other was pink. then when grunge was "in" in middle school i had a pair of black low top converse, and for my 6th wedding anniversary i got to buy a pair of purple (my fav color) low top converse!!! if only it weren't so hot so i didn't have to wait until fall to get more use out of them

hah, i once went an entire summer trying to get everyone to call me Tyler -- i was convinced it was just that easy to change my name.

currently, i am obsessed with hunting down the *perfect* pair of orange pumps. thats tough to do when youre as nit-picky as i am!

I was once the Converse girl... until they caused me to fracture one of my vertebrae! It turns out that not only are they completely useless for support but also have really poor grip soles on marble steps.

Great article, but I'm still on the fence to be honest. Should try to focus on all the retro Jordans coming out.

I'm having a Topsider-themed summer, so these caught my eye:

I got the worst blisters of my life from a pair of Converse, so I'm never going back to that!

BTW, if you like neon pink, Le Sportsac has serious neon pink shiny travel carryons. (And other stuff)

Loooooove converse all stars! They go with just about anything. Well, almost :)

I, too, adore Converse. I also have a pair of ballet flats, the only pair I've ever purchased, and they kill my feet if I wear them too many days in a row.

I also love love love vintage style pinup heels. Mmmmmmm.

I wouldn't be surprised if my foot was broken or something stupid like that. But, I don't care. I can't afford to. haha

Specifically, I have a torrid affair with Via Spiga's Sorina (just made a tragic blog post about them!) but in general, I'm in love with maryjanes. I would own a thousand pairs if I could.

*GASP* I love those Converse with the stars!!! They're the best ever. I have a pair of neon pink Converse that I occasionally wear to work...I'm a doctor, which is what I think is most fun about it. ;)

My shoe obsession? Reef flip-flops. LOVE. Love!!!!!!!!!!

At one point in high school I owned like five different pairs of China flats (blue velvet! brown velvet! purple velvet! etc!) and at the moment I have two pairs in my closet (one sequined, one black brocade). I intermittently get obsessed with them all over again and want to wear nothing else, since they are so darling and go with everything and make your feet look tiny, but a) those straps are always snapping, and b) wanna talk bad support? They're like walking on pieces of floppy cardboard.

I love flip flops. Maybe it's because I live in Georgia where it's 100 degrees right now, but I live in flip flops a good 8 months out of the year.

Luckily, I teach and my school allows teachers to wear them. The day they change the dress code is the day my husband has a heart attack due to my shopping binge for new shoes! :-)

I had a mild Converse obsession up until a year ago when I realised that my heels didn't give me as many blisters as my supposedly awesome neon yellow low tops..and that's saying a lot!
Now, I'm totally obsessed with booties! Peep-toe, oxford style, studded, sequined..you name it!

all the best shoes are the unsupportive ones :(

I'm actually the Nike girl and I live in running shoes (like regular gals have a closet full of heels, I have a closet full of sneakers). I have a pair of Nike IDs that I had custom-made. They are also pink and I always get compliments on them. Btw, they're very cushioned and supportive. :)

Vans! I'm obsessed with Vans. Totally getting the pink slip ons today!

Welp, it's time for me to visit my doctor! I'm kind of the flip-flop girl. I mean, nobody calls me that, but I wear them every day. In every season (I live in Georgia, so it hardly ever drops below 70 degrees). Occasionally I wear ballet flats. At any rate, my feet are KILLING me lately. Like, can barely stand to walk on them killing me. I wonder if it could have something to do with the lack of support?

It's weird. I got the impression that Converse were supposed to be pretty supportive shoes. My dad said that's what they used to wear to play basketball in high school, just generic Converse.

Ooo, sorry for the double-comment. But I can identify with a shoe obsession, and I had forgotten this fact until just a moment ago!

When I was fifteen, I saw this pair of Saucony Jazz sneakers in lime green and orange. That's right. Lime Green. And Orange. I became obsessive. I just had to have them. I begged for them, pleaded, scrimped and saved...and then couldn't find them anywhere. Eventually, a friend found a pair and bought them for me, and I wore them until they wore out.

Looking back, they were hideous. But thinking about those shoes, I almost want to go find the first hideous color combination Saucony has to offer and buy myself a new pair.

I want those Roxy Harbors.
And I am actually known as the Converse Girl, and am rather mocked for it.

Ballet flats.
They're so comfy, classy, and go with just about anything! AND they come in so many styles! :) I wear mine so much they usually end up falling apart.

I'm obsessed with cowboy boots. I wear them every day. I have successfully become known for them. My favorite was when I met this kid through a mutual friend and he said, "You're the girl I see on campus in the blue coat, yellow pants, and red cowboy boots! I always wanted to be your friend!" Needless to say, we're buddies now. It's great to be known for something. :)

i'm obsessed with anything Frye. I have serious brand disillusionment.

Oh my goodness. When I was living in England I bought a pink pair of Red or Dead Maxa mary jane heels. Once I got home I realized that they were incredible and had to have them in blue. I stalked ebay for nearly a year and ended up with a both a green and blue pair. So cute. Sadly I can't find a photo!
Also I have been on the search for the perfect high black boots that will fit over my well turned calves for the last 10 years. I have bought many boots that were nearly right because I wasn't sure if there really right pair would come along. And then I found http://www.aylaboots.com/ and have been prancing about in high boots that zip all the way up!
yay!

I was the Converse girl too. I started collecting them when my feet stopped growing in fourth grade. By high school, I had representatives from every color of the rainbow and beyond. Something like twenty different pairs. I pretty much only wore Converse from age 10 -16.... but my feet never broke. Maybe they did and I don't know it?!

kidding

I'm definitely getting into the Keds/Vans sneaker look now. They make great summer shoes and you can wear them with a sundress and look cute instead of like a pre-teen punk as you would with Converse.

Your doctor's words ring very true to me. After a long day of walking in my favourite sparkly sequined SHINY SHINY silver Converses, I can feel my arches shaking their tiny fists at me I pain.
But when I look down at my feet, I forget everything because it's just so shiny.

I broke my toe wearing Converses, too. I still wear mine, though. They're starting to get holes in them. Maybe it's time for an upgrade. :)

Ever since the most fly boy I've ever met told me I had "kickin' pumas" I have always made them my go to sneakers. That was 7 years ago. I still always have a fresh pair in the closet to this day.

I'm definitely a Converse Girl! I don't even know how many pairs I have. My favorite pair currently is a pair I designed on their website, they're neon pink and a bunch of other obnoxiously bright colors.

I used to wear high heels to work everyday, then I dropped a table on my foot and broke my big toe. Now the only comfortable shoes are ballet flats and Converse (good thing I own so many pairs!)

I just have an obsession with simple flats. Love love love flats. I started wearing them in high school before the flat craze started and got called an old lady. Well, they can suck it because I still love my flats!

I second the Frye obsession. At my favorite local secondhand boutique, there's a pair of engineer boots on sale, and even though I already HAVE a pair, every time I see the ones on sale I have to resist the urge to buy them. Covet, covet...
