Awesome Affordable Etsy Find of the Week!

A couple months ago some friends and I were discussing how easy it is to confuse the "Lady of Shalott" with the "Lady of Shallots," the latter of which we decided would be some kind of goddess of ground vegetables. I think by the time our conversation ended, I had been crowned the "Lady of Oregano," but that's another post for another time.

But if there were such a thing as the "Lady of Shallots," I think she would delight in wearing this "Lady of Shalott" vintage locket, with this picture tucked inside:

Right?

I know if I were Lady of Shallots, I'd for sure have that picture inside a locket.

I am weirdly relieved to know I'm not the only one who gets the lady and the veggie mixed up.

Is anyone else having flashbacks to the scene in Anne of Green Gables where Anne is laying in a boat reciting that poem? Oh, Johnathan Crombie, you were so cute!

Oh wow, that's one of my favourite paintings. I'm actually severely tempted to buy one now!

Beloved poem by my favorite poet plus an adored piece of artwork plus jewelry equals LOVE! Certainly would brighten up the unprecented winter we're having here in South Korea!!

OMG- I am totally having Anne of Green Gables flashbacks! I remember memorizing that poem when I was young after reading about it in the Green Gables books and of course seeing it in the movie! Love it!

Gotta love Waterhouse. They should do a follow-up and put his Ophelia on a bathing suit. Perfect for those watery excursions.

Good pick. I heart all things Pre-Raphaelite.

the locket would only be better if the lady was holding a shallott in the photo. i really like this necklace though. i have a good memory of my high school english teacher reading that poem to the class and making fake gag/barfing noises every few stanzas because she thought the poem was so cheezy. i actually liked it till then... ~joelle

I can't believe you posted this! I just bought a locket like this on etsy. I've had The Lady of Shalott on my wall since the mid 90s.
