Forbidden Fruit

If I didn't have issues with Victoria's Secret, I would buy this swimsuit in, like, a millisecond:

Is it not the cutest thing EVER?

Thanks to one of my BBFFs, Jo, for the tipoff!

As adorable as it is on the model, I could just imagine how it would look on me! I can pull off some bikinis, but that one would just accentuate all my wrong places, like my ski slope boobs (from feeding three babies) & my persistent belly ponch.
The bikini is gorgeous for others, though!

Very Cute! I recall the obvious 50's reference here as well as the subtle 90's trend of showing off your abs and hiding your belly button. Unfortunately, I can't wear most bikinis without looking like a rap video extra.

What's your beef with Vicky's, btw? I have a love/hate relationship with them, but they are as "upscale" as I can afford that stock bras in my ginormous (for my body, anyway) cup size. Honestly, I don't see my feet most days.

Oh, and I gotta tell you, I just got hooked on your blog (through a random Google search, lol), read your archives, and you inspired me to create my own. I only have one post but hey, it's only been a day. :-)

I agree with the first poster...I think bathing suits like that look great in photos, but they can be pretty hard to wear!

Heh. Just read your VS gripe, lol. And as creepy as this may sound (and I am sure it does), we are so bra twins! Lucky you, I can only get those full coverage granny bras most days unless I luck up and they have something cute in stock. At least they are better than most dept. store bras in our size, which are strangely pointy like the Madonna cone-bra.

I love their bathing suits, but they hardly stock any in stores and I'm too scared to order one without trying it on... and sometimes their sizes are so out of whack!

Hmm it certainly is cute. However for an hourglass girl with DD boobs this would def not work.
I love wearing bikinis but the small cup in the top and the too high waist with this one would have my looking pregant and spilling out =)
It looks like a fab swimsuit to give petite girls some curves!

Hmm as a "petite" girl I don't think I would wear this swimsuit, as cute as it may look in this picture. For one thing, I don't think the lines of that top flatter most people (I find they just make you look flatter or squish your boobs funny) and the high waist isn't flattering unless you've got a 6-pack like this model, or if you have an extremely long torso. This suit on me would make me look flat and shorter than I already am!

I think those bottoms would give me an aweful case of 1980's giant high-waisted-pants crotch.

yes, i agree! i love this suit. :) but wow, i read your VS post, and they sound ridiculous. that is so lame. harumph.

It looks very cute in the photo, but I think I'd need underwire support in that bikini top to boost my micro-bust!

As dorky as this may sound, Land's End tends to have some cute retro style swimsuits. I have a one piece that makes me look like Marilyn Monroe (only, you know, pudgy and mousy brunette and alive and not secretly sleeping with JFK and stealing clothing and pink pillbox hats out of his wife's wardrobe. I digress. But if I were, Jackie O could so join us.)

Like, this cute polka dot number looks more wearable:

It looks lovely, but in all practicality, I think I'd end up getting frustrated with it, seeing as I actually do quite a bit of vigorous swimming. Doesn't seem extremely wearable.

It is cute... but if I think about it, it would make my awkward large hips looks awkwardly huge.

Also, I just read you VS rant, + I totally agree! Although, for the opposite reason- I've got little boobies, so VS bras wind up looking kind of like half tennis balls I have tacked onto my chest.

I love retro swimsuits so much... unfortunately I have issues with all the places that are selling them.

zOMG, i just read your other VS post -- dude, "THE DRAWER"!!!! it's like the equivalent of "THE KEY" at the grocery store... LORD have mercy. it's mortifying, and you know what? it's just NOT WORTH IT when they stare at you like you have three heads to begin with and then sprouted a FUCKING 'NOTHER ONE while you're standing around, waiting for THE KEEEEY! :/ what i'm saying is... as a D+++, i'm with you.

Teek and Sara--
OMG my top two favorite swimsuits I've ever owned were from Land's End and Esther Williams!

In fact, I wrote about my Esther love here.

Amen, down with VS. You know who has really decent bras? DKNY; I'm officially a convert. I truly hate how whenever I used to go into VS, the salesladies would insist on taking my measurements and then would proceed to tell me the wrong size anyway just to hand out unnecessary ego boosts. They're just wrong for that. Wrong. Any VS employees reading this by any chance - do your intended job!!

i think it's the best thing ever, not buts. i want to wear it with my huge prada sunglasses. ooh baby. i wish i didn't think smoking was the most sick thing ever, or else i might also smoke one of those cruella devil/ audrey hepburn cigarettes too.
