Extra! Extra!

My boyfriend Nick and I are featured in the Sunday Styles section of the New York Times today, talking about how we couldn't afford to take our planned vacation(s) this summer due to crazy-ass fuel and airfare prices, so we just went out to dinner instead.

I had a lot of fun with the whole process, from talking to the writer, Alex, to having our picture taken outside Nick's work while the entire neighborhood gawked ("What on earth is that man doing with such a huge camera?"). I maybe look like I have a mild case of lockjaw in the final product, but Nick looks hot, and the simple fact that my picture is in the New York Times with the caption "They'll Always Have Pasta" is enough to make me cry with joy.

You can read it online if you want to, but as Alex said, it would be better if you bought a copy, or ten-thousand.

I can't wait to see it in print!

Woooo! Go, you :)

Now you'll always have pasta AND The New York Times!

P.S. Is that the metallic teal eyeshadow making an appearance in the picture? It's so lovely :)

Blimey, your boyfriend IS hot.

No chance he has an identical twin living in Melbourne who's has a thing for crossword-addicted blondes?

d'jen--
It most assuredly is the metallic teal eyeshadow! Good eye! (heh, heh. eye. heh.)

Elizabeth--
I'll question him about that. Since he's dating me (a crossword-addicted blonde! Represent!), I'm sure if there was a twin you'd have a good shot!

Look I'm with Elizabeth. You're boyfriend is a total fox. And so are you just quietly...

Gosh, yes.

Can't fly to Chicago? Why not fly halfway around the world to the fashion capital of the Southern Hemisphere instead? I'm sure Lady Smaggle and I could toss a coin/jelly wrestle to the death to work out who gets to host you.

Mmm.. jelly...

Wow, you and Mr. Daddy Likey are a yummy couple indeed. If you ever make a "video" or something, let me know. :)

Oh, and congrats on the feature! Plus, the eyeshadow and the headband! Nice!

What did Anon. mean by "make a video"? I'm a little disturbed by that. Anywho, you both look adorable.

I knew it was the mac eyeshadow! congrats! I'll read it in print, as my boyfriend gets it and always saves the fluffy sections for me (shhh... bc they're the only ones I read...)

Bekah said...

oh don't you two just look so adorable..and would you look at that beautiful teal eyeshadow!
your boyfriend looked like adrian grenier for a minute and I almost crapped myself (I knew it wasn't him, obviously, but still).
I'm too poor to even go out for pasta :( haha

You guys are so adorable! Love the photo!

Can we trade boyfriends? I mean, now that you are famous and will be fielding 10,000 modeling contracts a second, you will have male models hanging all over you and you probably want to donate your "used" boyfriend to charity (i.e. me)....right?

Holy moly! Congrats, lady! What is WITH them not including a link to Daddy Likey, tho? Inconsiderate bastards. Good thing they took a fabulous photo of you and Nick to make up for the oversight ...

Why didn't you consider Amtrak? The Empire Builder train goes from Portland to Chicago and passes through Montana, where it has 12 station stops. You can change in Chicago for an overnight train to Boston. Portland to Chicago starts at only $143 a person. Portland to parts of Montana is $94 a person. Did you guys not even consider this?

I saw this on Sunday! We had been to NYC for a weekend, picked up a paper to read on the train home, and there you were! I recognized you even before I read your name (which I always remember because it's my middle name).

You and the Mister look really great. Congratulations!

The story is cute! And sort of sad at the same time...stupid gas prices are ruining the best laid (layed?) plans of summer. On a side note, I have been reading for a long time but never commented. And then I realized when I read your post that I used that very article to cover my carpet up when I painted a piece of furniture this weekend! Of course I went back and looked at the print version to see your picture! And now I will forever remember you as saving my carpet from blue paint!

Your bf is very cute and has great hair! Congrats on both. :)

How cute are you two?? Wow! Congrats on the cute bf. (and the rockin eyeshadow!) I think he's the only guy I've ever seen who can totally rock the stubble AND still look like the kind of guy you could introduce to your parents.

Seriously, though, what could the talk show host douche-guy honestly have to say about you without making crap up?? So strange. The mention of you guys is totally innocuous, and not nearly as..sigh..forgive me for using his minions' word--"whiny" as the chick who was talking about how she knows vacations are a luxury but she's still upset that she doesn't get one?

I'm so confused. And not even because I had beer on an empty stomach tonight.
