Awesome Affordable Etsy Find of the Week (plus a p.s.)

"A Little Love" 4x6 Print, $5

A kitten eating a cupcake? Nope. A baby triceratops with a pink ribbon tied around its horn? Nah. My beaming boyfriend in the post below? No way! There's absolutely nothing cuter than a smiling little mouse holding a love note. And even the price (5 bucks!) is just adorable.

p.s. Tomorrow morning I'm headed to Chicago for a 5-day improv/comedy writing workshop (also an excuse to meet up with a few of my favorite bloggers!). Posting may be light, because I'll be busy trying to write jokes and eating deep dish pizza, or it may be heavy, because I'll be bored in my hotel room late at night. I have no idea which, but just a heads up!

And any lovely Chicagoans out there, feel free to share any recommendations for must-see attractions or must-eat foods--I'm eternally grateful for your guidance!

So cute!
Pooey, I am going to NY Monday! And I also have no recommendations because I really don't know anything about my hometown. So I'm no help and just like the mouse.

OH, right now there is an exhibit that closes Sept 13 at the Museum of Contemporary Art that I hear is really good. And go the the Art Institute's new modern wing.

Ah the cuteness! It's too much!

Chicago looks amazing! Even if the only thing I know about it is from the musical of the same name. You lucky thing :)

Gotta stop by Mario's Italian Lemonade stand on Taylor Street- a Chicago tradition- get Lupini beans.

Go to the Art Institute's new wing- it's open late on Thursday and Friday until 9:00 and you get to see a great view of Millenium/Grant park.

Chicago is an AMAZING city... Get past the tourist shit and see the real thing. Have fun! I love your blog.

Hey there! You're going to love this town!

Check out the ethnic hoods here:

Pilsen (around 18th and Damen)- it's one of the most concentrated Mexican population outside of LA. Street food is awesome.

The Indian neighborhood (usually just referred to as Devon)--- near the interesection of Western and Devon. Specialty Indian restaurants, sari stores, and general cool things to look at.

Kuma's at Belmot and California- the best, coolest burger joint in the city.

Uncle Fun at Belmont and Southport- totally weird toys and trinkets.

The glass cube in the Sears Tower- you are floating over the city! Takes an hour to get up there, but if you pay double ($30) you can fast pass it straight to the top. Worth it.

Andersonville neighborhood at Clark and Foster- go to Hopleaf bar for Belgian beers that pack a whollop and mussels. See Swedish bakeries and awesome decor stores.

Frank Lloyd Wright neighborhoods in the suburb Oak Park. Walking tour is really nice.

Skip Navy Pier. There's nothing to see there that you can't see anywhere else.

Great boutique shopping on Division street near the Damen intersection.

Have fun!

Oh, and since you said you're taking a comedy class, my fave comedy spot in Chicago is Chicago Underground Comedy at the Beat Kitchen. It's a mere $5 and features the coolest comics in Chicago.

The Annoyance Theater at Broadway and Lawrence also puts on improv shows all week.

Bit late to the party, but... You MUST go to Ann Sathers for the cinnamon rolls. Heavenly! Lou Malnati's is drool-inducing. Make sure you have a Chicago-style dog while you're here, but order it without sport peppers if you don't like spicy food. They're little, but they bite!

I second the folks who recommend the Art Institute- check out the gardens on either side of the main entrance! The Field Museum is also awesome and entirely worth a visit. Millenium Park is good to explore at a wander, and there are often free summer concerts at the Pritzker Pavillion.

If you've got the time, check out some theatre while you're in town- chicago's theatre scene is unique and exciting.

Also, you shouldn't be shy to ask the staff at your hotel for non-touristy recommendations of things to do and see. We love to brag- they don't call us the Windy City because of weather!

Hope you are having an awesome time! Can't wait to read all about your adventures in Chi-town!
