In Which I Kill My Credibility

I wore leggings yesterday. As pants. With my purple Ugg boots. And I went out in public. And I liked it.

I would like to confess as well. After over a year of complaining about the return of leggings, which, the first time around, i wore pretty much every day (i was still in grade school) I finally broke down and bought a pair.
I have not worn them yet, but i figure that they will come in handy at some point to shield me from the harsh winter winds in Chicago. and who knows, I might end up liking them and buying some more.

Ah, we've all done that one Winona. It all depends on the state of your arse. Purple Uggs, you say?

Wow. Pictures please? If YOU'RE doing it, (and liking it, I might add) you must be doing it extremely well. I want evidence that leggings as pants + Uggs doesn't necessarily have to be frightening. <3

Oh, Winona. I'm going to cry. Not about the Uggs. I TOTALLY get the Uggs, because it's cold as balls and I've kind of been wearing a pair as well. But the leggings? As pants? WHY? I'm sure they looked cute, but...WHY?

Yeah, but when you do it, it's funny!

See, I'm not sure I agree with Becka...If you're wearing leggings as pants, they're not shielding you from anything!

it's ok, I heard the whole northwest is in some kind of apocalypse-style storm, so you're fine. (plus I secretly really want some Uggs).

C'mon, we need pictures! Pretty please?

Pictures! pictures!

I'm with Wendy - where are the pictures? Were they purple leggings? hehe

I'm with you -- although, honestly, I'm a very recent convert to the leggings-as-pants group, much less wearing leggings at all.
My excuse: I live in Hawaii, and it's too damn hot and muggy to wear jeans.

Leggings? I'm with Emma there- WHY???
Depends on what kind they were, I guess- they were probably tucked into the Uggs so you wouldn't freeze to death. Which is an ok visual impression.

Uh, yay for Uggs! I have a crappy old pair and I am really contemplating buying a new pair...is it worth it? I think you need to do a compilation of photos of women in Uggs but pulling it off, IN A GOOD LOOK. I need inspiration!

My nice winter boots are already complaining about the weather-y-ness of my weather. I am almost tempted to buy Uggs for commuting. I second the "give us women in Uggs pulling it off" post.

But...leggings as pants is a pretty scary idea. With how long a shirt? It's so very camel-toe prone. I do leggings as tights, especially with boots so you can't see they're short. (looks professional, like tights: keeps you warm, with a hidden pair of wool socks!)

It's ok Winona, I was drving to work today, and contemplating buying a pair of Uggs. It's not too cold here in northwest Indiana...yet. I just need some boots I can tuck my jeans into and walk in when it's bad out and my 5 inch heels just aren't going to cut it. Though some of the boots in the post about boots a few days back are cute too. I just need something that's black and flat.

I am a Canadian hailing from the currently frozen over city of Montreal. It reaches -32 Celsius and waiting at a bus stop is an extreme sport. I have never worn a pair of Uggs in my life. There are plenty of alternative including our very own

The leggings I can deal with, but my French fashion sensibilities cause me to recoil violently from the Uggs.

I'm definitely going to need to see a picture before I can render a verdict on that one. Don't be out there show-chaing your chocha, Winona!

FINALLY someone else with purple uggs!!! i'm really hoping those leggings were like.. kelly green. i've done it before, you know, going for the barney-effect.

i love it, and i do it to, except with sky high leather boots with cowboy buckles on the side. and a fitted sweatshirt, and by god, i go to the bar like that, and everyone who doesn't like it can go to hell, i have a great booty!!

oh. my. gosh. I need to see some pictures. Now I have to admit i did go out (for 5 minutes, to pick something up) in grey legging last week. I didn't feel like changing. And you know what, I liked it. I would do it again. But minus the Uggs. They are the uniform for the skanks at my school so I boycott on principle, although my solidarity has wavered in the -40 Canadian winter weather. But I still want pictures.

i'm embarrased to say that this year and last i've worn -many times- a frayed on the botton 50-dollar denim mini that was not dark wash and did not fit flatteringly. i paired this monstrosity with black leggins!!!!

kudos for wearing PURPLE uggs -those are actually cool. i am so tired of the tan ones imabouttopuke.

Ouchhhh. I'm sorry, I hate.

Though as previously stated, I have recently caved and bought leggings, if you mean leggings as pants, as in, nothing covering all/most of your booty and/or "frontal area" I don't think I will ever get to that point.
I guess I am more on the "leggings as tights" train...but that's a far cry from my position on leggings at this time last year
:)

If I see ONE more pair of tan/brown uggs on this campus, I'm going to start issuing "fashion lemming" awards. Yes, they are fun to tuck your jeans into. But honestly, we're all tired of them!!!

I've only seen two young women here wearing different colors, one pink, one pale pink. Your purple boots show both a sense of style and a sense of humor! Go Winona! And rock those finals. Peace be with you.
