Peace be the Journey*

Dearest Lovelies,

There'll be no new posts today through Monday because I'm headed to Washington DC to join the war protest and march for impeachment of the President. I've been fed up for a long time, but after I watched this video, I bought my ticket to DC:

People--young people, wonderful people--are dying for motives that are at best incompetent and at worst completely corrupt. I feel that I owe it to myself, my (future) children, the soldiers, and the world to stand up and say, for lack of a better term, "Ah, heeellllll no!"

I'm pretty sure most of you will support me in this (and if you don't, I'm not interested in arguing), and I appreciate it greatly.

PEACE, Love, and Happiness,
Winona

*Sian, there's another Cool Runnings reference for ya.

I'm proud of you Winona! It's time more people recognized the injustice and did something about it. Good luck!

He is a horrible person and a horrible president. He is out of touch with most of the population that he is supposed to represent. Please post about your experience when you get back.

all you need to do, is look that president right in the eye and say:

"What I am saying to you, is that you are the kind of club-toting, raw-meat-eating, Me-Tarzan-You-Jane-ing big bald bubblehead that can only count to ten if he's barefoot or wearing sandals."

I'll be in D.C. as well this weekend. Unfortunately, I will have no opportunity to attend any anti-war protests... but believe me that I would join you if I could.

My boyfriend joined the army reserve to pay for college and ended up going to Iraq for a year. I could go on and on about the bullshit he had to endure on top of the fact that his life was at risk every day. Give 'em hell for both of us!!!

wow so i basically thought you were one of the coolest people ever before, after reading your blog for a while, but i dunno. this just like rockets you to another level. im 15, therefore part of the "next" generation. it kills me that i feel like i can't really do anything about this situation.. i hear all of the things that george w. bush does, like what he's doing to our country, and it just makes me SO fucking mad! MY generation is the one thats going to deal with all of this! it's OUR future he's screwing with!!!!! so, i got a little carried away but what i mean to say is thank you winona. youre sort of my role model, as dorky as that sounds.

Well, all I have to say is, why didnt you invite me?

Also, I hope you are not one of those 150+ people they arrested for breaking through a barricade...

my dad lives in DC and is friends with most of the embassy people there. he got invited to some small dinner party at the white house and he declined saying his back was bothering him. but he told me the real reason was that he didn't think he could be in the same room as george bush without wanting to punch him in the face the moment he saw him.
