Awesome Affordable Etsy Find of the Week: Banana Flashbacks Edition

Coming across these vintage banana beads stirred two of my fondest banana-related memories:

1. In 9th grade my best friend Rachel and I made necklaces out of metal spoon pendants we bought at the bead store. There was absolutely no meaning behind our spoon necklaces, we just thought they were random and cool. Then we wore them to school and everyone was like, "Are you on crack?" and I thought it was because our spoon necklaces were so random and cool, but actually it was because they thought we were, like, literally freebasing crack with our spoon necklaces.

2. One time a Verizon Wireless customer service representative asked me my name and I said "Winona." She said, "Hi Banana." And I said, "That works too."

Hi Banana.

Hey, I was just wondering whether your book was sold directly from anywhere in Australia. Borders does sell it online, but they ship internationally.

I love it! I can only sit back and be jealous over your amazing name. My name will never be mistaken for anything as cool as "Banana".

Ooh I really like these! I might have to try and DIY something involving old jewellery and plastic fruit now.

That spoon necklace might work well with one of my poison rings. Not that I recommend putting anything illegal in one of my rings!

I bought your book today, Winona! I'm so excited, it should arrive around January 7th!! I can't wait! xD

Oh, and awesome necklace. I think I'd prefer one made of tiny spoons though. Did that make me sound like a crack addict? Oh God, I'm not, I promise, I genuinely just want it because it sounds cool.. ;]

One year for Christmas my Dad got my Mom a pair of post earrings that were a spoon and a fork (not a matching set!), each about 1/4" long. Mom politely accepted them, but as soon as Dad wasn't looking I was like, "OMG! Mom! I must have them!" (Obviously because they were super random and totally cool.) She gladly gave them to me in exchange for one of my less-than-awesome gifts. In my opinion, I won. =)

Your Verizon story caused me to make a barky-laugh noise that was apparently horrofying enough to silence my entire family! Beautiful.

I still have my spoon necklace AND my banana necklace, but the spoon kinda sucks, I can hardly fit any crack in there at all.

Yeah, the Verizon story just made me laugh really loud at the Fresh Pot at Powell's Hawthorne. Most patrons were courteous enough to ignore me. One was not. Thanks for making me laugh on an otherwise subpar day.

Heeeeeee. I don't know why it is so funny that someone would address you as Banana, but it is.

In other news, I got your book for Christmas and thought you might like to know that it is awesome and all the females in my family took turns stealing it from me to read bits.
