Tuesday Top 5: Cute Thermal Shirts to Wear During Arctic Blast 2009!

Yes, I know it's technically Wednesday, but here's the thing: it's soooooo cold! The kind of cold that merits the wearing of sweatpants (two pairs at once, if you want, who cares!) and encourages codependent relationships (DON'T LEAVE ME! I need your warmth!) and totally excuses me spending last night shivering on the couch watching the Biggest Loser finale instead of blogging, right? Right?

Here's the deal: in Oregon we've had temperatures in the single digits for the past four days. Oregon never gets single-digit temperatures. Never ever. And if you couldn't tell by my introductory rant, we Oregonians tend to be a bit dramatic about the weather.

When it gets hot in the summer we all sulk around panting dramatically and the local news ignores actually news stories in order to interview the people sulking around panting dramatically about how hot it is. Then when it gets cold in the winter we all sulk around shivering dramatically and the local news ignores actual news stories in order to interview the cold sulkers and show scary animations of the words, "Arctic Blast 2009!"

Here are a some cute thermal shirts I would love to wear while being interviewed about how cold it is (or while watching the Biggest Loser finale on my couch, shivering dramatically):

Roxy Horizon Thermal, $29.50, here.

Long Sleeve Thermal Henley with Birds and Branches, $18, here.

Eiffel Tower Thermal, $26.50, here.

Art and Revolution Thermal in black, $30, here.

AE Shawl Collar Striped Thermal, 19.95, here.

If it's really THAT cold, you'd better wear them all at once.

Oh and I recommend knitted wool socks, they're exceptionally warm and cosy ;) I don't think I would survive the winter without them!

I love the American Eagle one and the eiffel tower one. Unfortunately Phoenix only has about a month of cold weather a year :(

You can't blog if your fingers are frozen and typing is difficult! Or at least that's my excuse.

Ahh! That's even worse then what we have been having in Maritime Canada! if Oregonians are dramatic about weather, I think I belong in Oregon.

Very cute shirt selection, I wonder if they would look as good all together?

so very very true...we are the same way here in seattle. =) The answer, my friend, is FLEECE SHEETS. They have CHANGED MY LIFE. A friend gave me some when I moved here three years ago and they are absolutely delightful.

I feel that if I complain enough about the weather it will change. I also feel that way about an acquaintance who is a psychopath.

Pfft, if you think you're dramatic about the weather, try being an English self-declared weather wimp who's just moved to Glasgow, Scotland!

So So So cold! I basically spend my whole life wrapped in a furry sheepskin blanket. I recommend it!

They're calling for snow this weekend and I could just about die. I love the clear skies but these temperatures suck. The northwest isn't supposed to have seasons!

I concur - it is freaking cold here. Last night my boyfriend and I sat in the couch wearing fleece jackets, sweatshirts, slippers, a blanket wrapped around us, AND the heat was on high. God forbid someone have to go into the freezing cold bathroom.

I grew up in Oregon. Can you tell from my rant? My favorite thing is when it snows and I sit in front of the television for HOURS watching the weather reports (that run for days straight). Fun!

I'm in Eugene, Oregon and I FEEL YOU. I'm so over this silly single-digit nonsense. I've been wearing tights, leggings, leg warmers, and knee-high boots. All. At. Once.

Hi!
I just discovered your blog, and (even though I am a straight guy) I love it! Your fashion haikus make me day, and I love the jewelry you have. I live at the very top of New York state (yes, I said state, not city!), and our winter temps can get down to -30, so please just shut up about single digits. (I would LOVE to live in the pacific northwest- the name of the game is TEMPERATE! I would be curious how high the temperatures get before you start sagging and whining on TV. :P) As a result, I particularly love how you featured long sleeved fashions in this post. My question is, could you find some as awesome as these for guys? I have a major pet peeve about that of the 70% of clothing stores that actually have mens fashions, 75% of store is for women. In addition, I am 19, so I usually head to the young mens section and discover disgustingly tight or baggy items with skulls and swear words written all over them. I do work part time (at a florist, so nothing too fancy), so I have to have fashionable and respectable clothes. I was recently thrilled to discover Threadless, which although it has awesome T's and hoodies, lacks long sleeves. I know you manage to find awesome things from Etsy, and I thought you might be enlightened to discover how limiting the mens fashion selection is. Would you be able to help me?

Matt
