Tuesday Top 5: Dresses To Wear To Very Specific New Year's Celebrations

1. I would wear this to a "Dress As Your Resolutions" party, if my resolution had something to do with losing my saddlebags.

2. This priestess gown is an absolute necessity for performing rituals at a "Awakening 2010" hippie fete. So are the following items: sage, astrology books, Tibetan singing bowls, and soy cheese.

3. An understated and classy lil' number perfect for NYE at a club with a sexual or astronomical name like "Skin" or "Stratosphere." Bonus points if the place has a handwritten sign above the bar that says "2010 = 2 for 1 jello shots!"

4. I'd probably accidentally wear it to some really low-key new years hangout where everyone was wearing sweats and playing Scattergories, but this spendy dress would be most at home at an exclusive penthouse party where the champagne is actually from Champagne.

5. Did I just categorize The Snuggie as a dress? I sure did. Because sometimes you want to stay home on December 31st, eating bite-size butterfingers and watching Criminal Minds reruns. And that's fine too.

What are your new years plans? And more importantly, what are you wearing?

Happy New Years girlie.

No official plans yet, but thinking about joining friends at their game night. I wanted to go dancing but you know...funds are tight and I want to get up early and go to the Rose Parade (GUESS WHERE I LIVE!)

#3 reminds me of something one of those nutty kids on the Jersey Shore would wear. "That's CLASSY!"

No plans, no outfit :( Probably something almost Snuggie-ish.

I am planning on participating in Project 365, but that starts Jan, 1, and is more of a resolution.

I will be rocking the slanket. Wish they made a sparkly one.

Poochie said...

I will actually be wearing this dress (because I don't do sleeveless) - http://coolspotters.com/clothing/sonia-by-sonia-rykiel-collared-sequin-dress

and will hopefully be a bit tipsy on Champagne with a certain Miss WendyB in NYC.

Woot!

I'll be wearing black pants, a black button-down, and an apron, because I will BE AT WORK. Seriously not cool, right? Maybe I'll put on a party dress when I get home :-P

Number 5 will be my new years eve night.
I'll get myself a nice dose of Spencer.

Minus the snuggie.
And the butterfingers.

I'm thinking Snuggie-related activities, but perhaps while wearing something fancy.

The party I think I will attend has an "aprés-ski" theme, which I will take to mean copious amounts of fur accessories. Can I work a fur collar, a fur muff, and a fur shrug in the same outfit? Oh, watch me.

As for resolutions, I think I only have one: Have An Awesome Time.

I will ALSO be at work but I bartend so I'll at least get to wear a sparkly tank top. Too bad it will most likely be covered in champagne and vodka at the end of the night and NOT from me.

I've got a party at a friends house to go to, it's going to be so fun! Lots of food and drum roll please!
I will being wear my Mom's shiny vintage dress, a jacket with hand sewn pins attached, including little price tags hanging from them (can you guess where that inspiration came from?;) and my gold "happy newyear," tiara.
Pics will be on la blog...

I will be wearing 2, count them, 2 Snugggies. One on the correct way from the box, and the second around the back like the simple bathrobe it is. Cozy coming and going.

I'm wearing the snuggie for sure as I beat my family repeatedly at Catch Phrase and watch unheard of Christmas movies like The Year Without a Santa Claus and The Night They Saved Christmas. I hope yours is just as awesome!

@Poochie, love that dress.

As for the dresses here, I'd like to get the cut-out lacy one and present it as an offering to my idol Coco.

I always stay home for New Years' Eve. Partially because there's no where else I could really go, and partially because even if there were, my family's spread of finger food and rented movies would always be better. Awesome. Thankfully, my boyfriend couldn't possibly guilt me into hanging out with him somewhere instead, because he doesn't really celebrate this particular holiday. This year, he's gone hunting.

LOL at that first one.

I'll be wearing something with an elastic waist...BIL the Chef is making canapes for a small family gathering.

Anna said...

Oh, Criminal Minds, my love for you knows no bounds. If only I hadn't made plans for NYE...that snuggie and my CM DVDs are calling my name...

Sarah said...

Hahaha. I love number 3! I had a college roommate who probably will be wearing something similar this year...

I will be at home on my couch with my fiance. Probably wearing flannel. Or maybe fleece. Drinking champagne and eating more Christmas cookies.

Erin said...

Um yeah #5 pretty much sums up my plans. Except I'll probably be watching different shows.

I don't usually comment, but:
a) lurking is creepy
b) I love the colour of #1, even if the shape is questionable
c) I'm wearing a fantastic dress that came in the mail yesterday, and I have to share. (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=22741088)

Happy New Year!
And keep up the excellent blogging!

Haha. Snuggie as a dress. You know, it works. They had a Snuggie pub crawl here in Austin and there were some pretty awesome Snuggie outfits. A lady gaga one took the cake though.

There's this block party every year that my friend's parents throw, and this year I live right across the road!

Oh my god, I haven't given any thought to my outfit!

My friend is having a party and I convinced him to make it semi-formal so I could dress up without being like your description in #4. (:
I got this lovely dress http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=301&storeId=301&langId=-1&productId=501978049 (awkward position not included) but for even less than that price. I got 40% off with an additional 40% and 15% for using my Macy's card!
I am currently trying to decide between fun colored tights and black shoes or black tights and fun colored shoes.

Ha! I LOVE Scattergories...that's how I spent my Christmas, sitting in a cabin in the woods with my best high school friends, playing Scattergories.

I'm spending NYE with my family at a ski resort :). Must dust out the North Face tonight...

jesse.anne.o said...

Hey! Please don't associate soy cheese with that horror!

I'm probably wearing this:

But am working on how to layer that to avoid frostbite walking around NYC.

I'm going to a party where people will probably be acting like undergrads (and dressed like them, too), but I will be wearing one of my finest cocktail dresses...perhaps with fringe. It may also be necessary to break out a feather fascinator.

My boyfriend is having people over to watch crappy movies including If Looks Could Kill with Richard Greico. And eating sloppy joe's. Awesome.

I just bought this shirt at Brooklyn Industries yesterday, while shopping IN THE SNOW! Yay!

Here is what I had planned to wear: http://www.polyvore.com/2010_sparkles/set?id=14659956 but as always in Florida the weather has changed, so with it being closer to 70 with the low only at 58....I think I am changing the bottom of the outfit to a dark wash A-line above the knee jean skirt with black textured tights.

We will be at a friend's house who throw hugely successful large parties! Lots of music, lights and they even have a triple kegorator in their kitchen...the house is more like a club. They go all out with fancy lighting and large amounts of fireworks. It's always a good time!

hilarious. i wish it were socially acceptable to wear a snuggie all the time... but new years will be a breakin out the cocktail attire kinda night for me :)

I'll be in the snuggy group, but myine is leopard....i live on the edge.

loving the snuggie.

FUCK YEAH CRIMINAL MINDS! that's pretty much the only thing I took away from this entire blog post, which I'm pretty sure was awesome and witty like your posts always are, but holy shit Criminal Minds. It's an obsession that's kind of taken over my life. My boyfriend just doesn't understand that one day Dr Reid and I will be married. Happily. And have little genius babies with mild autistic tendencies...

Wonderful roundup, as always! Love this! And the fact that you included a snuggie.

Happy New Year, my dear, have a great one tonight and all the best for 2010!

No specific plans yet so if I don't go anywhere, I'm going to sporting my stylish orange slanket, complete with cat hair. It's so cold here and there is a winter storm watch so it all depends on what the weather does.

JessieB said...

Haha! Genius. I've been on the couch with my mom watching CSI reruns on demand. Close enough to #5 I think!

I stayed at home on the 31st of Dec which was tragic enough...but add to that the fact I have a Snuggie in a lovely beige colour, which I did indeed 'wear' that very evening, then my tragic points just hit the roof. All sadly true.

Shannon said...

Sigh. I was dreaming about wearing dress number 4, but ended up wearing the snuggie (or equivalent).

Its bad when you fall asleep and get wokem up by people yelling "happy New Year" and all you think is 'bloody rowdy kids'.

Sarah said...

OMG Winona we totally did #5! and then after the criminals minds, we watched The First 48 which is some reality crime show, so when we started hearing explosions at midnight we all began panicking and investigating outside... before we remembered what day it was.

<3 you Winona! happy 2010!

LOL...awesome post. I think the Snuggie is the most fashionable of them all!
