Totally into Tom Petty (going to a concert this summer), Sara Bareilles, Bob Marley, Wilco, Cake, The Killers, Buffalo Tom, Third Eye Blind. Totally having a 1990's throwback phase.
I just started my own blogged and linked to you. Check it out www.styleavarice.blogspot.com
oh man, this happens to me all the time! I also am loving the pierces! Yeah for music I discovered through Gossip Girl, lol. Also in rotation- Amy Winehouse (just got Frank, it's great), Under the Blacklight by Rilo Kiley, Night Falls over Kortedala by Jens Lekman, Kate Nash, The Virgins '07 EP, Carla Bruni & Tristan Prettyman to relax, LCD Soundsystem, Sea Wolf, and throw in Britney- Blackout, Flo Rida (shhhh!) and Gwen Stefani for dancing around!
liam finn, kate nash, idlewild, queens of the stone age, semisonic (i second fashiongeek with the 90s revival). i have also just remembered how awesome the rolling stones can be.
I'm listening to She & Him (M Ward and Zooey Dechanel), as well as Sun Kil Moon, Feist, the new Nick Cave album, Vampire Weekend, and a bit of Dolly Parton thrown in for good measure!
I frequently roll my way through slumps where I hate my iTunes playlists and then discover a new obsession. Right now, I can't get enough of The National, Grizzly Bear, Band of Horses, and Beirut. And when those fail, it's a pretty steady rotation of Bob Dylan, The Band, and the Beatles, though my fixation is on recent releases like the Beatles "Love" album, The Band's live album "Last Waltz," which Scorsese made into a documentary, and the Dylan/The Band live album "Before the Flood."
À Cause des Garçons (Tepr Remix) by Yelle. Amy Winehouse's Frank album. Cold War Kids' Robbers and Cowards. Jenny Lewis' Rabbit Fur Coat. The Virgins, The Virgins '07 EP. Ingrid Michaelson's Girls and Boys. All the Young Dudes by Mott the Hoople.
"everybody but me", "I'm good, I'm gone", "little bit" - all by Lykke Li. You can check it out on youtube, would love to know if you're into that kind of music :) and also "pocketful of money" jens lekman and "it's over" sondre lerche well, those Scandinavians sure know how to make music...
Some of these have already been mentioned, but try- Garbage Bell X1 (so good) Semisonic The Weakerthans Pearl Jam Rilo Kiley Leona Lewis MGMT Jeff Buckley Elliott Smith Holy F*ck (spelled w/ a u, i just don't know if blogger will block it) Justin Nozuka Tapes 'N Tapes Patrick Park
Right now: Fall Out Boy (I know, I know, but I'm like a diehard), Motion City Soundtrack, Say Anything, Cobra Starship (another band I'm pretty much a diehard for), and The Cab (the lead singer sounds like JC Chasez from NSync, but that's not the only reason I love them, they're so nice and talented). Okay so that was a little too much explanation, but hey.
I am still listening to: Colbie Caillat Sara Bareilles Kanye West's "Champion" song Terri Walker Untitled - 1st CD Donald Lawrence - Finale (part 1 &2) Musiq SoulChild - Luvanmusiq Maroon 5 Ohio Players "Sweet Sticky Thing" my anthem.
right now I'm actually listening to born in the usa:\:\ another band which I LOVEE (all time low! woo woo! my favvouurrrittee) sings it in their van in one of their videos so they've made me obsessed with the song haha but ALSO listen tooooooo the audition we the kings cansei de ser sexy jeremy fisher matt costa I don't know if you like that schtuff, but it's worth a try!
Big Star/ Alex Chilton: get September Gurls and What's Your Sign? Old Rod Stewart, Lou Reed, Calexico, Josh Rouse, Sonic Youth, Neil Finn (Anytime), Old 97s (Designs on You), Rufus Wainwright, Paul K and the Weathermen, Phoenix, Steve Earle, John Prine, Cracker (Mr. Wrong) and to shock the world, Soul Asylum:) I heart Dave Pirner! Also, if you do youtube, Anni Rossi has a song on there that's good!
My boyfriend has really amazing but obscure taste, if you ever want to hear a bunch of stuff that you can't get on youtube email me your address and I'll send you some cds he's made for me.
I have kind of a lackadasical music sense. As of late its been Sheryl Crow's Detours, Vampire Weekend, Nico Vega (you can find them on myspace), Ashton Shepard, and Sondre Lerche. (especially after the final scene in Dan in Real Life!) I fell in love with him Sondre all over again.
