Heart of Gold (well, silver, but still)

The wonderful Wendy Brandes is auctioning off this beautiful necklace (in a package deal with tons of other goodies) to benefit the Nielsen family. Click here to read the parallel stories of the Nielsens' tragedy and the rally of instant, selfless support it provoked.

The bidding is currently at $550, which is fantastic, but if you can't part with that kind of money right now, no worries (I can't either)--tell your richer friends, or publicize the auction on your blog, or just send some kind words or thoughts the Nielsens' way. Thank you.

If you don't have any rich friends, go out and make some immediately!

why are we raising money for? is it for the cost of the mediacal bill or other expenses, I want to donate but i don't know where the money will be going.

Rivermist, Medical expenses, rehab expenses...living expenses. They have children who have to be taken care of. And Stephanie and Christian are going to have YEARS if not a lifetime of medical expenses from these devastating injuries. You can read Stephanie's sister's blog to get an idea of what they are going through:

that necklace is pretty, but not in my eyes worth that much money. at least it is going to a good family.

Miss Fashion

WendyB is adding a lot to the auction to help raise the funds. But much like any charity auction the main value is in getting the money to people that need it. The jewelry is just a bonus for you!

Miss Fashion, as PP explained, the concept of charity purchases is not how much can I GET out of it but how much can I GIVE.
