Awesome Affordable Etsy Find of the Week

The KeysandMemories Etsy shop makes badass jewelry out of vintage typewriter keys. I got a "back space" necklace for my amazing editor friend awhile back, and now I'm eyeing this W ring for myself. There's a chance that if I wore it while punching someone in the face, it would leave a little "W" imprint, and I think that's worth 10 bucks right there. Also, it's super cute. Duh.

W's rule. That is all.

The W-shaped mark is definitely the best selling point.

P.S. How do you put multiple pics in one post on your Tumblr? Thanks. :-)

Awww that's so cute! I'll thumb-wrestle you for this ring, OK?

Hmm...I actually don't think you can. They love the super short, snappy posts over there, but I'll play around a bit and get back to you if I figure it out! BTW, what's your Tumblr name? Do I follow you yet?

Winona, check this link out! It's The Guardian (well it's The Observer on Sundays) who have gone thrift shopping in Portland, Oregon - "thrift capital of the world" apparently!!!

Oh man. That's cute, but my heart just breaks thinking of the typewriter that had to be dismantled in order to get that key (and so often the typewriters aren't broken beyond repair or even aren't broken at all)! Keychoppers are a real problem for us typewriter-loving folks! I saw a while ago an Etsy shop making the same thing out of materials not salvaged or savagely ripped from a typewriter. I wish I had the link - it was really amazing how similar they looked - but I don't anymore. Ah well.

As a writer, I love wearing words and letters, but the vintage typewriter part just throws me over the edge!

Ah! I love this! I'm so glad you decided to do an Etsy post every week- I get so sad when you leave us! Hm.. Winona, can I recommend an Etsy shop? I'm so excited I JUST found this little gem and thought of your posts immediately- http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5985002
Some of the stuff is a little to victorian for my tastes but I adore the secret garden key necklaces- they are so kick a**! LOL just a suggestion, I promise the site's not mine!

Oh man, those are adorable, and I have no idea what size ring I am.

Beware! I had a bracelet with one of these and it was cute but the metal turns your skin green!

remind me never to read your blog in the afternoon when my defenses are down. I just bought an "E" necklace on impulse!

Don't do it! Please don't buy typewriter jewelry - it's like getting ashtrays made out of baby dinosaur feet - these magnificent machines are being chopped up. I use a typewriter every day - 3 different lovely manual typewriters, each with their own font, their own serial number, their own history - please don't buy from the butchers! As Anonymous said, there are replica and there are people who actually do find machines that have rusted into a solid block of iron...but I just found a 1929 Royal at the Salvation (halleluah!) Army in San Francisco - $15, perfect working condition, with two inset beveled windows on each side so you can watch the keys go up and down.... typewriters are people too...
