I was lucky enough to be able to interview many of the featured photographers and craft clever little captions for their fabulous photos. Thanks to a talented group of designers and editors, the final product is just gorgeous:
Now that it has finally hit newsstands and bookstore shelves (and here!), I'd love to give away a copy to one lovely reader. Just leave a comment on this post, and I'll choose a winner at random this Friday.
And just in case you don't win the giveaway, please check out the persuasive list below:
Top 10 Reasons You Should Pick Up A Copy of
National Geographic's Your Shot Book
National Geographic's Your Shot Book
1. It includes a photo of a goat wearing a cardigan.
2. It's only $10.99, and features 101 incredible photos, which means that each picture pays you a dime. Or something like that.
3. You can consider your purchase a donation to the Don't Let Print Journalism Die fund.
4. It's the perfect gift for your brother, sister, mom, dad, aunt, uncle, cousin, friend, enemy, mentor, mail carrier, bikini waxer, parole officer, etc -- everybody loves cool pictures!
5. It says "Collector's Edition" on the cover, so when you display it in your home, your friends will think you are rich and refined.
6. In the span of a few pages, the images will make you gasp, laugh, and shed a tear. Maybe some other bodily functions, too, but I'm just speaking for myself here.
7. If you're so inclined, you can go here and upload your own photo to create a custom cover, then use it to impress potential lovers.
8. The pictures are so gorgeous that you'll want to lick them, and amazingly, they have zero calories!
9. My interview questions for the photographers included such gems as, "So, did the pigs always stand up when they heard the harmonica?" and "Why didn't your little brother let you stick the leaf blower in his face?" Intriguing, right?
10. It includes a photo of a goat wearing a cardigan. No joke.
Remember to leave a comment for your shot (teehehe!) at a free copy! And please check it out next time you're perusing the magazine rack. Thanks so much for your support!

P.S - Are you sure that picture is of a goat wearing a cardigan or a picture of me?
I am very against goats wearing cardigans. They should only wear pullovers.

Honestly, I love these books and I'd be overjoyed if I won it.
The only thing better than a goat wearing a cardigan is a picture of that goat in a book you helped with!
How cute! I WANT!
Ooh congrats! It must be so exciting to see your hard work come to fruition, and for such a cool project no less.
P.S. Will the cardigan-wearing goat make a cameo on Daddy Likey anytime soon, perhaps forming a panel with Martin and Woodrow?
Count me in, Winona! I was sold once you said "goat in a cardigan." So, yeah, I should win kthanks. :)
The cardigan-adorned goat would want me to win the shiny new book to help cure my master's thesis writing block!
If not for a struggling academia nut, do it for the goat. There's nothing worse than a sad goat. Especially in a cardigan.

Ohhh wonderful pictures! I would love this. Awesomes.
It's like this: Not only do I personally own a goat and a cardigan - meaning I am but one inspirational photo away from my own photo-journal debut - but I also happen to have a brother, sister, mom, dad, aunt, uncle, cousin, friend, enemy, mentor, mail carrier, and bikini waxer. I am also on a diet and have no qualms about licking paper.
Obviously, this book was made to fall into my grasping, penny-pinching hands.
(And, also obviously, if I were to own this collector's edition book, I would look less a penny-pincher. Which is good.)
lalaroo22@gmail.com
Whoopie! I have been meaning to goo on a diet. No Calorie picture book sounds like a great idea!
Love,
BB
It sounds amazing! I want it!
Dear Winona,
I am a relative newcomer to DaddyLikey, but I am fiercely loyal. Your writing is so amusing and warm, I feel like we could be pals. I'd love a copy of the NatGeo book filled with cool pictures and your funny captions. Am I too late?
No matter - I'm glad to finally have an opportunity to say howdy.
Howdy!
-Genevieve

5 Reasons why I should win your book:
1) Now that I've posted you FINALLY have proof that I actually READ your blog instead of just 'skimming it' (or at least that I skim it for words like 'Free' and 'Goat')
2) I graciously let your BFF buy the last copy at Powell's Beaverton store yesterday, depriving myself greatly for the benefit of a mutual friend.
3) I'm trying REALLY hard to arrange a trip to Enchanted Forrest early next week, and will pretend that I 'kind of tolerate you, sort of.' for the whole day.
4) You find my procrastination exhilarating, and want to reward my 'daring, sexy, living of the edge of the deadline' devil-may-care attitude.
5) You don't need to spend the postage to get me a copy.
