The second thing I thought was, "It looks like there are little galaxies trapped in the heels! I will write a story about this in the style of Dr. Seuss."
And here we are:
The Little World Inside Your Shoes
A philosophical question:
Tell me, what would you do
if you found a little world
in the heel of your shoe?
Say you're dressed to the nines
roaming New York's mean streets
thinking, "Where is Scott Schuman?
these shoes hurt my feets!"
But that tingle you're feeling?
It's not bunion nor blister,
it's swirling stars, tiny planets--
are you getting this, sister?
Look just under your sole,
see the galaxy's glow.
It's beautiful, wondrous,
a bit frightening, no?
Tell me, what would you do

it's swirling stars, tiny planets--

Look just under your sole,

It's beautiful, wondrous,
a bit frightening, no?
So what do you do now?
Kick your shoes off and run?
Call in NASA, or the airforce,
Will Smith and his gun?
Maybe you pick up your shoe
and the world that's inside,
stare at it intently,
whisper, "Who's there? Don't hide."
Does the thought cross your mind
that your find might reveal
we all live in a small world
inside a big heel?

Fantastic poem. You're a born writer, Winona. XD

Gives a whole new meaning to the woman who lived in a shoe. Brilliant!

love, love, love that it not only crosses your mind to write a poem a la Seuss about Rodarte heels, but that you then go out an DO it. I'm all, 'must work on my book, blah blah...' and never end up doing fun stuff like this. I think I need to bring a little more Seuss to my life...
Those shoes are awesome. Your story is also awesome. I love reading your blog, it's so fun.
This was the best start to my Friday morning EVER. Your brilliance constantly amazes me, Winona. Seriously.
AMAZING poem haha and awesome shoes too!
you are freakin' amazing!
I'm a constant lurker, but I just HAD to de-lurk to say how awesome this poem was. :) *runs back into hiding*
And some shoes have mini black holes inside their heels: that's where all the money goes. ;)
Great poem. Freaky shoes.
I love these shoes, and your story is hillarious! Dr. Suess ain't got nothing on you. I just started a blog about my "Shoe Challenge" and will definately be putting a up a link to this!
i think the poem is almost more awesome than the shoes themselves. but together? MIND. BLOWING. XD
Um, HELLO! You just blew my mind.
2 words: You Rock
Um, since when are you a fanfuckingtastic poet!?
Also, those shoes are way better than the ones I had when I was five that lit up when I walked.
Genius. Absolute genius.
My mind. It is blown.
This is the greatest thing I've read in weeks. And I'm an English major. Thank you.
I was just thinking how much this reminded me of Men In Black and then the Will Smith line came. Very clever. Loved the poem!
