I'm a total fraud.

I've been living in Hawaii for the past two months going to school, and I have to confess that the heat and humidity have sweated out all of my style. I'm kind of a secret fashion blogger here, because if I told anyone about this little endeavor they would look me up and down, raise their eyebrows at the pair of cropped jeans that are the only thing I can bear to pull on in the sweltering mornings, stare in disbelief at the rumpled and sweaty black tanktop, shake their head in awe at the hair swept up into the same messy ponytail and black headband that it is everyday (and we're not talking Prada runway messy ponytail and black headband, we're talking I'm sweaty and greasy and hot and it's all I can do to avoid shaving my head in a fit of rage), frown at the flip flops and unpedicured toenails, and say "I'm sure you are, honey." My point is that I look like shit all the time and I'm afraid I'm giving fashion bloggers everywhere a bad name. And I think that maybe this would help:

hilarious -- your secret is safe with us. But yes, go for breezy tunics and jersey shifts that you can dress up or down and you'll be just fine.

i think that would be a perfect way to revamp your look but still beat the heat!!
but hey - we're all allowed to look like sht occassionally.

You and me both! I wear mostly jeans and a cute tee. Me; a fashion blogger? Yeah, right!

Take it from another fashion blogger who, if I say so myself, is "tres chic" but, on the other hand, could TOTALLY "slum it" with the BEST of 'em! A large aspect to being a true fashionista is having THE KNOWLEDGE of fashion, which you CERTAINLY have...

And I don't see anything wrong with blogging about fashion while in your cut off sweats and an old sweatshirt from senior year...

nothing. ;-)

hey! i just moved to hawaii a couple months ago for school too! (UH? grad school?...do I know you?...)

when i lived in boston i swooned over the idea of hot weather year-round, thinking of all the comfortable clothes I'd get to wear. But now I'm twitching waiting for my Thanksgiving trip to Colorado and a chance to wear sweaters, long pants, and makeup that doesn't slide off my face after ten minutes (I NEVER wear makeup, so when I miss it, things have gotten serious...) and coats. I'm not much of a fashion person myself, but I have a bit of an addiction when it comes to coats. In Hawaii that is a very very useless addiction.

I bike into work, so not only do I wear the cutoff shorts and the tank tops every day, but I can't even wear my nicer tanks because I don't want to sweat through them on the ride.

and I still need to keep my long-sleeved shirts at arms reach because they refrigerate the living daylights out of my office. grr.

and remember, "slippers", not "flip-flops", or the more experienced Hawaiian residents will laugh at us :P

Oooh, I want that dress. The thing is, I just paid my taxes and I can't afford to go shopping. Gasp. I have a soft spot for Missoni and I saw a lovely Missoni dress on sale but now I can't buy it. Sadly, Missioni isn't actually cheap on sale, either. Ahh, life is hard sometimes.
